Velehrad London

This project involved the refurbishment, reconfiguration and extension of a group of buildings in London. The brief was to create a headquarters for Velehrad London, a charity and cultural organization catering for the expatriate community from the former Czechoslovakia.
The existing buildings included a Victorian villa and coach house, as well as various mid 20th Century additions which were partly demolished and replaced. New uses include a function hall and performance space, classrooms, accommodation for visitors and spaces for meetings and community events.
As well as creating new contemporary spaces and insertions, the works also involved uncovering and restoring many of the original features of the Victorian buildings.
Jonathan was the project architect for Velehrad London while at IBLA.
